The Foundation wants to welcome Professor Thomas Mole, from Edinburgh University (https://tommole.org/) who will play the Queen Victoria Eugenia Chair in 2019/2020 academic year. It is a satisfaction for the Foundation to have a personality like Professor Thomas Mole, currently the director of the “Centre for History of the Book” in Edinburgh and specialist in the Cultural History of the English Literature and Romantic Literature.

He is the author, among other monographs, of The Secret Life of Books.

He will visit Madrid in December, February and April. His first activity in December will consist of a public conference entitled “Books in the world of things” in which he will examine the state of books as objects, suggesting that we often tend to overlook their material aspect. He will also teach doctoral and master classes at the Faculty of Documentation on “Books in today’s society” and “Libraries and their perception by users.”

Thomas Mole is a specialist in literature of the romantic period in Britain, especially the poetry of Lord Byron. The Centre for the History of the Book he runs was established in 1995 as an international and interdisciplinary centre for advanced research in all aspects of the material culture of the text.

We will also have the pleasure of having Professor Thomas Mole as guest speaker at the XXIII British Hispanic Forum organized by the Foundation.
