Two hours after, on the occasion of the celebration of Book Day, Leonor, Princess of Asturias, and the Infanta Sofía read ‘ Don Quixote ‘, the Royal House shared a video with which the daughters of the Kings sent a message to comfort all who are suffering and join the gratitude that citizens offer to all those who are helping in the Covid-19 crisis.

“Hello. We have been at home like millions of children for more than a month and without going to school because of this pandemic, trying to get on with life in the best possible way. It is not necessary to be older to realize the enormous difficulty that we are experiencing in Spain and in other countries. Many children have lost their grandparents, older people, family members and are having a very hard time, and for this reason, we also want to thank all the people who are helping and caring for others, in so many ways. You are all important, thank you. We send you a hug with all our love. We hope all this happens soon!”

It is the first time that Infanta Sofía, who turns 13 on April 29, has read at a public event. Leonor did it on October 31, 2018 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution. It was at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, in Madrid, and read article 1 of the Spanish Constitution.
