May 12, 2020 marks 200 years since the birth of the illustrious British nurse

Florence Nightingale transformed a devalued profession, which was run by the charity of religious institutions, into a healthcare science based on education, research, and the scientific method. It was the driving force behind modern nursing and became an international benchmark in Health Sciences.

At the British Hispanic Foundation we want to pay a small tribute to this fascinating historical personage that it serves as a token of our gratitude to all the health workers in the world who during these weeks heroically fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commemorating this anniversary of the Bicentennial of Florence Nightindale´s birth, the WHO, World Health Organization, declared 2020 as the “International Year of Nursing and the Midwife”.
