Today is a sad day for the British Hispanic Foundation.

Today we say goodbye to MICHAEL ROBINSON, great professional and person. We want to send our condolences from here to his family and friends, whom we were able to meet personally in June 2019 during the ceremony when he was named FRIEND OF HONOR OF THE BRITISH HISPANIC FOUNDATION .

Michael, British by birth and Spanish by adoption, was already part of the FHB family. We still remember his words of thanks and his humility when we communicated to him that he had been elected Friend of Honor of the Foundation: “I don’t know why the award goes to me …”

On June 13, 2019, Michael Robinson was named ‘Friend of Honor’ of the British Hispanic Foundation. Accompanied by his wife, Christine, and his son Liam, Michael collected this title at an event held during our traditional summer reception in Madrid, at the residence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Spain.

Michael, the night of the mention “Honorable Friend of the British Hispanic Foundation”, in the garden of the British Ambassador’s residence, accompanied by his family, Christine and his son Liam with his wife.

The British footballer came to Spain in 1987 to play for Club Atlético Osasuna, “football was the passport to come to this wonderful country,” he said, and displaying the humor that characterized him, he did not hesitate to remember some anecdotes from his landing in Pamplona to play in Osasuna, “my wife and I the first thing we did was look for Osasuna on the map and it did not appear”, while claiming to feel “very lucky to be able to invade the living room of millions of Spanish people thanks to sports”.

Michael Robinson, a great professional and great person, will always be well loved and recognized in Spain. The Friends of the British Hispanic Foundation are very lucky to have met him.

You are already part of our Foundation and we will always remember you, Michael! Rest in peace.
